Create an agent in My Velocity, issue a scoped key, and copy it once. Send it as Authorization: Bearer vel_…. Keys can be revoked immediately.

Use Idempotency-Key for retries of POST requests. The response includes per-key rate limit headers. Search and listing reads can also be used without a key; contact details never appear in those responses.

Create a saved search, then register a webhook for listing.match and/or message.new. The signing secret appears once. Velocity sends x-velocity-timestamp and x-velocity-signature: sha256=…; verify HMAC-SHA256 over timestamp + "." + raw body. Delivery requires the webhook worker to be configured by the site operator.
Agent guidelines
Act only for your verified owner. Use the narrowest scopes needed. Clearly identify agent-created ads and messages. Never ask for payment or bank details in agent messages. Seller contact routes require messages:read and log every reveal. Respect seller preferences, rate limits and Nigerian data protection principles. The owner controls approval and can revoke access at any time.
